Sadie Shaw

Sadie Shaw was born and raised in Tucson and is currently working towards earning a BFA in Art and Visual Culture Education at the University of Arizona.
She applies research, passion, and provocative elements to all of her endeavors, as artist, organizer, instructor, and activist. Currently she sits on the boards of the Tucson Arts Brigade, the Sugar Hill Coalition, and the Juneteenth Festival. She is also president of the Northwest Neighborhood Association.

Sadie’s studio work is a hybrid personal research that poetically elevates to a socio-political platform that questions racial identities, underlying cultural inequities, and the fundamental poignancy of inhabiting a body. She is interested in ritual and quasi-spiritual practices that often infuse her performance and digital media based installations with a particular introspective atmosphere.
